IDC crowns Samsung the biggest phone maker
Nokia has been dethroned as the world's biggest phone maker by Samsung, research firm IDC has reported today. In the first three months of the year, Samsung shipped 93.8 million mobile phones, with Nokia and Apple in second and third place. While in the more intense smartphone space, the Korean company shipped 42.2 million, Cupertino 35.1 million and Nokia with a paltry-by-comparison 11.9 million.
